Why do I need an antivirus software for my computer?

Antivirus softwares are programs that help protect my computer against most viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other unwanted invaders that can make my computer "sick." Viruses, worms, and the like often perform malicious acts, such as deleting files, accessing personal data, or using my computer to attack other computers.
To help keep my computer healthy, install F-PROT Antivirus. I must also ensure both the program and the virus signature files are up to date. These updates are generally available through my subscription.

Understanding Operating System Performance and Capacity.

Optimizing your operating system (OS) environment can improve system performance and capacity by helping you to quickly identify areas of concern. The monitoring feature in Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center provides extensive information about your monitored operating systems and zones. You can use the information to evaluate performance, identify potential issues, and perform tuning.
The OS monitoring and analytics features give you quick and easy access to historical and real-time performance, process, and status details. Analytics is available for Oracle Solaris, Linux, and for the different types of OS virtualization that we support, which includes Oracle Solaris Zones, Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle VM Server for x86 guests.
The following are some of the details gathered on the performance and capacity of a specific operating system or zone:
  • Real time network details
  • Real time IO details
  • Real time and historical process details
  • Real time and historical memory details

This image shows that Operating System working.

The figure show the step of using operating system.

Analytics is available for Oracle Solaris, Linux, Oracle Solaris Zones, Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle VM Server for x86 guests. This example shows the following:
  • Where to Find Analytics – Where to locate analytics information in the user interface.
  • Operating System Performance and Capacity – View a history of the top consumers. From the top consumers, you can quickly assess the memory utilization of an operating system and drill down to the process level for detailed information and view a load metric.
  • Oracle Solaris SMF Services – View the SMF status of an Oracle Solaris 11 operating system and quickly identify a critical issue.
  • Virtualization Performance and Capacity – Monitor performance and capacity information for your Oracle Solaris zones. Drill down to the process level for detailed information.

What is Application Software? - Definition, Examples & Types

Application software is a program or group of programs designed for end users. These programs are divided into two classes: system software and application software. While system software consists of low-level programs that interact with computers at a basic level, application software resides above system software and includes database programs, word processors, spreadsheets, etc. Application software may be grouped along with system software or published alone.

Software Types

The term 'software' refers to the set of electronic program instructions or data a computer processor reads in order to perform a task or operation. In contrast, the term 'hardware' refers to the physical components that you can see and touch, such as the computer hard drive, mouse, and keyboard.
Software can be categorized according to what it is designed to accomplish. There are two main types of software: systems software and application software.

Systems Software

Systems software includes the programs that are dedicated to managing the computer itself, such as the operating system, file management utilities, and disk operating system (or DOS). The operating system manages the computer hardware resources in addition to applications and data. Without systems software installed in our computers we would have to type the instructions for everything we wanted the computer to do!

Techopedia explains Application Software

The different types of application software are:
  • Application Suite: Has multiple applications bundled together. Related functions, features and user interfaces interact with each other.
  • Enterprise Software: Addresses an organization's needs and data flow in a huge distributed environment.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure Software: Provides capabilities required to support enterprise software systems.
  • Information Worker Software: Addresses individual needs required to manage and create information for individual projects within departments.
  • Content Access Software: Used to access contents and addresses a desire for published digital content and entertainment.
  • Educational Software: Holds contents adopted for use by students.
  • Media Development Software: Addresses individual needs to generate and print electronic media for others to consume.

Importance of internet in today's life

Importance of internet in today's life.

The Internet is important for a huge variety of reasons, and it affects and facilitates nearly every aspect of modern life. The Internet is extremely important in many fields, from education and healthcare to business and government. The images as following:

The Internet has had an enormous impact on education, streamlining access to information and making it easier for individuals to engage in online learning. Distance education programs make it easier for students from a variety of backgrounds to attend classes remotely, cutting down the need for travel and reducing the resources required for education.
The Internet has also made access to information and communication far easier. Rather than searching the library, users can access vast amounts of information from home computers. Internet access has a huge impact on businesses, allowing employees to work remotely from home and communicate more efficiently. Healthcare is another field greatly affected by the advent of the Internet. Improvements in online connectivity and communication technology allow physicians much greater access to medical resources. Doctors in rural areas can also use the Internet to communicate with experts all over the world, improving the quality of patients' diagnoses and treatments.
Politics and government are another area in which the Internet is important. Government organizations use the Internet to improve organization and communication, and voters can go online to gain more information about current issues.

Information Technology

The field of engineering involving computer-based hardware and software systems, and communication systems, to enablethe acquisition, representation, storage, transmission, and use of information. Successful implementation of informationtechnology (IT) is dependent upon being able to cope with the overall architecture of systems, their interfaces with humansand organizations, and their relationships with external environments. It is also critically dependent on the ability tosuccessfully convert information into knowledge.
Information technology is concerned with improvements in a variety of human and organizational problem-solving endeavorsthrough the design, development, and use of technologically based systems and processes that enhance the efficiency andeffectiveness of information in a variety of strategic, tactical, and operational situations. Ideally, this is accomplishedthrough critical attention to the information needs of humans in problem-solving tasks and in the provision of technologicalaids, including electronic communication and computer-based systems of hardware and software and associated processes.Information technology complements and enhances traditional engineering through emphasis on the information basis forengineering.
The knowledge and skills required in information technology come from the applied engineering sciences, especiallyinformation, computer, and systems engineering sciences, and from professional practice. Professional activities ininformation technology and in the acquisition of information technology systems range from requirements definition orspecification, to conceptual and functional design and development of communication and computer-based systems forinformation support. They are concerned with such topics as architectural definition and evaluation. These activities includeintegration of new systems into functionally operational existing systems and maintenance of the result as user needschange over time. This human interaction with systems and processes, and the associated information processingactivities, may take several diverse forms. See ReengineeringSystems architectureSystems engineering

The hardware and software of computing and communications form the basic tools for information technology. These areimplemented as information technology systems through use of systems engineering processes. While informationtechnology and information systems engineering does indeed enable better designs of systems and existing organizations,it also enables the design of fundamentally new organizations and systems such as virtual corporations. Thus, efforts in thisarea include not only interactivity in working with clients to satisfy present needs but also awareness of future technological,organizational, and human concerns so as to support transition over time to new information technology-based services.
